Bryan Castañeda was born and grew up in southern California's San Gabriel Valley. He attended Citrus College then transferred to the University of California, Irvine where he studied history and graduated magna cum laude in 2006. His senior thesis was on anti-communist activity in Orange County during the early to mid 60s. In 2010 he graduated summa cum laude with a Certificate in Legal Writing from Whittier Law School.
